Dust & Breath Weekly Top 5

With just one more Top 5 before Christmas, I hope you are all taking the time to reflect on the meaning of this season and spending time with your closest friends and family. Take a second, kick back and read about five things that happened in Pop Culture this week.

1. LA Fire Cause Revealed

Investigators released their findings into the cause of the LA fire earlier this week. Investigators found that a fire within a homeless encampment is what started the giant blaze. The findings show that the fire was not deliberate and frankly spoke to the need for better homeless housing within Los Angeles.

2. Jada Pinkett Smith + Girls Trip

Jada Pinkett Smith had a few statements to make via twitter after her film and new star Tiffany Haddish did not find their way onto the Golden Globes nomination list. Mrs. Smith was not aggravated that they were not nominated but rather that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association did not even allegedly watch the film. In this case I will let Mrs. Smith speak for herself, read her twitter thread, here.

3. Perfect Hits #1

Ed Sheeran and Beyonce’s new hit duet the Billboard Top 100 chart at the #1 slot this week. This is a big deal since this is Beys first time here since Single Ladies hit #1 in 2008. Which left me eternally shook, because how has Beyonce not been on the top 100 since 08? Honestly, I think that is bigger news than ‘Perfect’ hitting #1. Head over to Spotify or Apple Music to hear the song yourself.

4. SAG AWARDS

The Screen Actors Guild executive producers have made a big move to pay respect to the bold words of the those who took part in the #MeToo movement. The upcoming SAG awards will have female presenters strictly for all 13 of their acting awards, as well as having Niecy Nash and Olivia Munn announce the nominees, and naming Kristen Bell as their first host. Tune in to the gala on January 21st.

5. Christmas Carpool Karaoke

Earlier this week the late late show was left without a host when James Corden and his wife Julia ran to their local LA hospital for her to deliver their third child, a healthy baby girl. Thankfully good friend of Mr. Corden, Harry Styles stepped in with less than three hours notice to host the show himself. Fans were treated to the surprise as well as a christmas themed carpool karaoke compilation video featuring artists like Miley Cyrus, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Harry Styles and many more. Take a look at the festive video, here.
