Sometimes joy is what happens when we pay attention to God’s movement in the world. Other times, it’s what we choose in the face of trial, fear, confusion and even injustice. Along with these, another aspect of the mystery of joy is how it fuels us in the same way it fueled Jesus.
For many of us the challenge will be to make space for other people to be known by God. Our biggest hurdle to get over will be that God also sees them. The second challenge for us this week is to live out an others focused love. This type of love knows, accepts, and believes that God also loves our neighbors as he loves us.
I can’t help but think there is something different that we can do during this time of year to slow down and reflect. To allow ourselves to be present and ponder the deeper things in our lives. To pause from the busyness of the holidays and intentionally seek peace.
